The League was formed in 1975 and serving on the committee at that time was Burt Burgess (Chairman), Dave Crosby (Secretary) and the Brain Smith (Treasurer), in 1976 the secretary role was taken over by J. Woolley who remained in the post until 1986.
The leagues first official referee was Joe McGreal in 1976
At the formation of the league there where two age groups only at Under 13 and Under 15. The expanded over the next few years to consist of 25 teams split into three age groups, Under 12, 14s and 16s.
Teams to have graced the league in the early years were OLOTA, Bovis, OLA, Blue Peter, Bechwood, Falcon, Cats Whiskers, Naylorsfield, St Basils, Triumph Jnrs, Gateacre Youth and Dosen City..
Several players who played in the league have gone onto to play for professional clubs,
David Lowe – Wigan Ath.
Steve Redmond – Man City
John McGreal – Tranmere and Ipswich
Tony Warner – Liverpool, Fulham and Hull
Aaron Cresswell and Ryan Fraughan who are both currently playing for Tranmere Rovers.
